Why is it that most people living in the Nordic countries, you know Sweden, Norway, Denmark, as well as Finland and Iceland, speak very good English, but by contrast, most Japanese can't speak English all that well?
There are 3 reasons: -- The first has to do with proximity -- The second with education -- The third with translation/population
1. Scandinavian languages and the English language are in the same language family 2. There are less students per teacher in the Nordic countries than in Japan 3. There is less translation on TV in the Nordic countries
