Let me make something perfectly clear:
- This video is NOT about why YOU shouldn't learn Japanese
- This video is about why I stopped (emphasis on I) learning Japanese
Listen carefully to every word I say (subtitles provided) and don't put words in my mouth. I don't make any disparaging remarks about Japan or Japanese culture or common Japanese people, only about Japanese TV in general and Japanese comedy in particular. I stand behind my opinion and it is a big reason why I stopped learning Japanese.
I LOVE Japan but I DISLIKE Japanese TV.
Don't put words in my mouth, don't project your own thoughts onto me. A wise man once said: What You See is What You Are
Here are the reasons why I stopped learning Japanese:
I already speak some.
I don't need for my business.
I don't need Japanese to enjoy traveling around Japan.
Most good information about Japan is translated in English.
Japanese TV programming is terrible.
These are my reasons, thay don't have to me your reasons. The purpose of this video is NOT
to discourage you from studying Japanese. Japanese TV shows no matter how stupid and unwatchable are actually good for learning Japanese because they are all subtitled -- Japanese subtitle their own language to fill up gaps on the screen and to try to elicit laughs by using weird fonts.
Here is are a few last shows of some famous TV show hosts.

Here is the final episode of that show - a complete madhouse. Tamori, the guy in the sunglasses, says a couple of times: "Hey, that's my show"
and here are the last shows of people like:
